I have a long and storied history of killing succulents. I've tossed more dead jade plants into the garbage than I care to remember. Really, I think it's just that I love them too much. The light was awfully pretty last night, & I got this shot of my current collection lined up in the window. This is the sort of evening light that confuses a gal into believing that she's not a serial cacti murderer. Sigh.
A Photo.
Brian just sent me this photo from Saturday of Linds & I goobering around on his balcony. I love it infinity.
Good Day.
This past Saturday was a pretty killer day. The weather wasn't half bad, I took care of beeswax on the homefront during the early hours, and gallivanted around town at night. The pals and I may or may not have accomplished all of, but not limited to, the following items:
- Watched Hollywood blow shit up on the set of Transformers 3
- Attempted to not drop our cameras off Brian's Marina City balcony
- Drank far too much of the sweetest Moscato ever made whilst watching the symphony
- Ate enough candy canes to not need to do that again for a while
- Took embarrassing (awesome) pictures of Rachel slurping on said candy canes
- Laughed and laughed and laughed
Dad, I love you.
I sort of reallllly want to acquire this necklace. Mostly so that I can wear it and think of my Pops, who loves wood more than anybody else.
OMGOSH! SHABD IS SO CUTE!
Golly! Has everybody already seen this clip of Shabd Simon-Alexander dying tights on Martha Stewart from a few I-don't-know-whens ago? Am I a little late to the party on this one?
Basically, after seeing her in the (virtual) flesh, I really want to be her bestie-forever, and I really want to tie dye the shit out of my wardrobe. Her leotard-body-suit-scoop-necked thingy is perfect.
An Addendum!
The internet superhighway & I have not been the best of friends lately. I've fallen victim to waaaaay too many migraines in the last monthish, and my super-sleuthing skills lead me to conclude that my puter, with its bright, unforgiving lights, is the main trigger. Most of me thinks that this is a good thing, as it's probably healthy to participate in the real world as much as possible. However, yesterday night, I came home to a mailbox chock full of wonder, amazement, and total gossip, & I remembered why the World Wide Web is so, so good.
Miss Lovelypants Megan sent me her zine! And a birthday card! And a portrait of me!!! All in purple!!! And I love purple!
Megan, you're the f.ing BOMB. This shit is goooood. Thanks, Dudette!!
(And, I do love my cats. For forever and ever.)

New earrings! New woman!
On Saturday afternoon, Rachel & I stopped into Penelope's & she subsequently picked up these super-awes, carved-bone feather earrings by Lulu. They are totally rad, and, I'm telling you, she's a total cuteface whilst wearing them. Further, they compliment the feather motif going on in her ram's-head-feather-magnolia forearm tattoo, and, god knows, you should always match your earrings to your ink. Later on in the evening, we ventured over to Beauty Bar where, like moths to a flame, the boys hit on Rachel in droves. We're pretty sure it was totally the earrings, dudes! Big, bright, white, awesome earrings! They couldn't look away!
The moral of my story? If you're looking for a man, you should get yourself some Lulu finery. Dude-magnets they are.
Stephen Eichhorn
All images by Stephen Eichhorn
I have spent many a Sunday afternoon wasting time, gasping over the beautiful collages of Stephen Eichhorn. Like all way awesome things on the internet-superhighway, I happened upon his blog whilst mindlessly clicking. And, I've been completely amazed by him and his work. Further, I think it would behoove all of you to join me in killing some time over at his site and gasping over his shit.

Aaron is a cutepants.
This is my pal Aaron, in Brooklyn. I just found these pictures of him, and I think they're insanely adorb. I don't actually know where he is or when they were taken, but that's beside the point. I hope he doesn't ever read this, because he'd probably be heinously embarrassed about the whole thing.
OMGAARONYOU'RESOCUTE&ILOVEYOUSOMUCH&IMISSYOU!!!
I, basically, just had, like, the best birthday ever.
So, pretty much, my birthday party this past Saturday night was my favorite one ever ever ever. Rachel & Juan came over early to help me decorate, and us pals put together some pretttty darling decorations, if I do say so myself. Then, we all ate some fruit salad, had a few killer singalongs, got really really sweaty, and generally just felt like we did when we first moved to Chicago 5 years ago. And And AND, my awesome dudes of friends, led by Rachel, got me the above BOMBASS Stephen Eichhorn print, which I'm totally freaking out about.
Good night. Good good night.
It's hot.
It's been a hot busy hot busy hot past couple of days here, and I think everyone (Dudley specifically) is feeling a little bit crankypants this evening. Were it not for the pale pink roses and snapdragons, leftover from Best. Birthday. Party. Ever., I'd be ten kinds of a grouchball right now. Thanks, Flowers! You rule!
Rachel has some serious skillszszs!
Last night, I hijacked Rachel's puter (used it to check my email) and found these sketches. They're pot-bellied, kitties that didn't make the cut for my birfday invitation!!!
Seriously, Rachel?!? SERIOUSLY. This is just too f.ing CUTE.
MARRIAGE.
This past weekend, our dear pals Riv & Dave had a little wedding in Ann Arbor. It was basically the most fun time ever ever ever. We ran around like fools with about 593628570 friends who we haven't seen in years, drank far too much Oberon, cut the rug until our calves/quads/abs/jaws were sore, experienced shitty hair due to Michigan's innnnsane humidity, and, generally, had a killer time. Using my super Internet sleuthing skills, I managed to access the photobooth pictures taken at the wedding. I think I star in approximately 5% of them. Haaaam.
Rivka & Dave- Thank you for the loveliest of weekends. You two are beautiful and wonderful and all kinds of other adjectives that end in -ful!
